Rani Mahal

Rani Mahal is one of the most popular ancient wonders of Jhansi located in the southernmost part of Uttar Pradesh. This 18th century Mahal was once the residence of the Rani Laxmi Bai. It has experienced the Sepoy Mutiny during the year 1857. Even though a major part of this marvel was demolished during the Indian Rebellion, it was later renovated into a museum showcasing artifacts of the 9th century. This two-tiered building houses six halls, painting a beautiful image of ancient India.

Jhansi Fort

Built in 1613, the Jhansi Fort sits at the top of Bagira. This 17th-century architectural wonder was reconstructed after enormous damage happened in the first War of Independence against the British East India Company. Inside the fort premises you can see monuments like Baradari Kal Kothari, Ganesha and Shiva temples and a museum displaying weaponry, clothes and paintings. Also explore the war memorial here dedicated to martyrs.

Jhansi Museum

The museum is located inside the premises of Jhansi Fort. It is a major attraction in the city which exhibits the prosperous history of the city. Visit here and explore dresses, weapons, photographs and statues belonging to the Chandela Dynasty. There is also a picture gallery highlighting the times of the Gupta Kings.
